| SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA-(19-12-2003) Yesterday's strong breeze dropped out for most of the second day of racing at the Sydney International Regatta (SIRs) to glass out the harbour before the new sea breeze came in. The race committee held the scheduled morning fleets ashore until mid afternoon then sent the competitors out to race in the 10 knot sou' easter.
Peter and Soren Hansen from Denmark moved into first place in the 49er class ahead of Chris Nicholson and Gary Boyd with Iker and Xabier Fernandez from Spain in third.
The Laser fleet is now being lead by Pieter-Jan Postma from Denmark and Daniel Slater from New Zealand is second. Michael Blackburn from Australia is placed third after a second place in the only race today for the Laser fleet.
Melanie Dennison and her crew still dominate the Yngling class with Nikki Bethwaite and her crew moving into second. Sharon Ferris from New Zealand won today's race in the Yngling class.
2002 World Champion Sarah Blanck maintains her lead in the Europe class the fleet with Maiko Sato from Japan moving into second after winning race four today. Verena Wagner from Austria is third after finishing with two third places today.
Jon-Paul Tobin continues to lead the men's Mistral fleet from Aron Gadorfalui from Hungary in second and Australian Jonathan Bonnitcha in third. Barbara Kendall of New Zealand sailed well in the women's Mistral fleet to progress into first in front of Romy Kinel from Germany and Natasha Sturges from Great Britain.
The Finn class is still being lead by Anthony Nossiter from WA sailors Josh Beaver and Dean McAullay both sailing under the Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club burgee.
470's sailed two races with Nathan Wilmot and Malcolm Page finishing with a first and second to stay ahead of British team Nick Rogers and Joe Glandfield. Ingrid Petitjean and Nadene Douroux continue to lead the women's fleet from Australia's Jenny Armstrong and Belinda Stowell.
